Soul Wool
About Soul Wool
Soul Wool is a yarn company committed to modern knitting with a conscience, designed with heart, produced with responsibility. The company believes that sustainability isn't a trend, it's standard practice, creating yarns that result in pieces that are not only beautiful but also feel good for you and the planet.
Philosophy & Values
Soul Wool is dedicated to ethical production and transparency across their entire range. Every yarn is chosen and produced with care, ensuring that knitters can feel confident about the fibres they're working with. The company's commitment to responsible practices means considering animal welfare, environmental impact, and innovative sustainable solutions at every step.
The Yarn Range
Kremke
Kremke represents Soul Wool's commitment to variety and ethics. The range includes naturally mulesing-free yarns, RMS certified mohair, and a wide selection of vegan options for those seeking animal free alternatives. Recycled fibres are just as essential to the collection as innovative textures and striking colour concepts, offering knitters beautiful choices that align with their values.
BC Garn
BC Garn is the brand with the most GOTS certified yarns in the entire industry. Fourteen yarns are already fully certified, meaning they are verifiably produced according to strict animal welfare and environmental protection standards. The GOTS seal guarantees fair wages, occupational safety and health, good working conditions, and social responsibility – all audited annually. Founded in 1996 by Bo Carstensen from a family of weavers, this traditional Danish company has always focused on developing yarns from natural fibres in a wide range of colours. In 2018, the company was passed to Britta and Carsten Kremke, who continue the yarn, colour, and design range in the Danish tradition. BC Garn stands for natural and sustainable yarns that actively contribute to a sustainable and ethical fashion industry.
Erika Knight
The Erika Knight yarn collection embodies passion for authentic, traditional yarns, regional fibres, traditional spinners, and craftsmanship. Concise and thoughtfully designed with carefully selected fibres and colours, Erika Knight yarns ensure you always choose high quality yarn perfectly suited to your projects. The brand boasts a beloved and quintessentially British aesthetic, with designs and colours inspired by the landscapes of the British Isles. Fibres are selected from British sheep breeds such as Bluefaced Leicester and Masham to support the conservation of rare breeds. Unique fibre blends using nettle, mohair, and recycled linen create yarns that are appealing, wonderful to work with, and exceptionally durable.
Sustainability
For Soul Wool, sustainability is woven into every decision. All yarns are naturally mulesing-free, mohair carries RMS certification guaranteeing ethical practices, and recycled fibres play a key role in the range. The company offers extensive vegan options, ensuring that every knitter can find yarns that match their ethical standards without compromising on quality, texture, or colour.
Why We Love Soul Wool
We're proud to carry Soul Wool because they prove that beautiful yarns and responsible practices go hand in hand. Their Kremke, BC Garn, and Erika Knight ranges offer something for everyone, from certified animal fibres to vegan alternatives, from recycled materials to innovative textures, from rare British breeds to GOTS certified natural fibres. Supporting Soul Wool means choosing modern knitting with a conscience, creating pieces that feel as good as they look.
